9th SEFICT
South East Europe Forum for Information and Communication Technologies

16 - 17th June 2010 Hotel EXCELSIOR, Dubrovnik, Croatia
SEFICT marked by e-Perspective

The ninth SEFICT – South East Europe Forum ICT was held on 16 June in the beautiful ambient of the hotel Excelsior in Dubrovnik, in the organisation of commercial chambers and ICT societies from the region. Djordje Dukic, the General Secretary of SEFICT, opened the Forum with the welcoming speech, highlighting that this manifestation was becoming more and more important not just because of cooperation within the region, but with the other countries of Europe.

Apart from the presentation of guests from all countries of the region, the most important topic certainly was connected with new possibilities provided by the European Union project e-Perspective. The project was presented by the author, Mr Vladimir Jovanovic, who stressed that e-Perspective represented interdisciplinary and multimedia action of support to the development of the information society in the region of South East Europe. Through interactive communication, the participating countries share, promote and improve experiences in the development of instruments of electronic government and its application in various spheres of life. The portal is created in English language and represents the integration of mini Web sites which are updated in local languages of minorities by licensed organisations and institutions from all countries of South East Europe, regardless of whether they are the Member States, or are preparing to enter the European Union. Every country update their own national Web site, and at the same time, they can place news, photos and video for which they think are interesting for the visitors from the region on the home page of the portal, in English language, without limitations, via a simple administrative panel.

This year’s Forum was as well marked by Motorola’s and TeleGroup’s presentations, which were focused on promotion of broadband infrastructure and solutions necessary on the territory of the West Balkan. Apart from the products themselves which, together with the range of professional radio devices, provide extremely reliable infrastructure, Motorola, together with its regional partner and system integrator TeleGroup, offered a range of new applications designed for implementation of e-Business ad e-Administration services, which are necessary for joining the European Union from technological aspects.

Today, Motorola invests in the project of “wireless” cities which should provide all the benefits of modern technological solutions in communications and really enable “Internet access for everybody and everywhere”. Since the project of this kind can be realised only with the cooperation with a local partner that is familiar with legal frames and regulations, but also employ high quality experts, that put TeleGroup to the top of the partner list, which will also have to participate in mutual creation of marketing activities, which would bring these efforts closer to the citizens of the Balkan.

The aspect of securing finances for the candidate countries from European Union development funds, the field where the Motorola’s office in Brussels is especially engaged in, was also presented at the SEFICT. The first references have already been secured for Croatia (Varazdin).

Presentations of ITM Europe, with the topic “International Business Ideas”, and of High School Kranj, with the topic related to computer design, attracted special attention.

Through interactive communication, the participating countries share, promote and improve experiences in the development of instruments of electronic government and its application in various spheres of life.
