On June 11, highly significant meeting of informaticians from SEE region was held in Dubrovnik, in hotel Excelsior.
Traditional meeting of employees in ICT – information and communication technologies, gathered, for one more time, participants from SEE region and mostly from Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia. This time too it regarded questions about information education and information society’s development as well as urgent need for enlarged investments in national literacy and computer usage.
Representatives of ICT association from Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia opened the meeting. The most important issues were: ICT functioning in planning and controlling of regional development, optimization of data warehouse performances, application of internet technologies, multimedia and e-learning, universal computer network, digital resolution and traditional teacher's role, and also cross-section of computer usage condition and communication technologies in countries that participated.
Slovenia, as the only country to participate and, at the same time has the membership in EU, has had the most to say, specially regarding achieved results in employees' information education, even though the results from Serbian Republic statistics office have drown attention to this country as equal participant in regional development. Informaticionist's association from Bosnia and Herzegovina emphasized its important impact in application of ECDL (European Computer Driving License) standards throughout entire region, and a vast increase in number of citizens with certificate in last two working years.
SEFICT Organizers for this year, Regional Chambers of Commerce, had significant assistance from European Chamber of Commerce from Brussels. For two years in a row, they gave a significant contribution to this conference as a general sponsor. Year after year, SEFICT is getting richer in specialized works and the turnout is constantly rising. Visitors came from every county in the SEE region. This emphasized growing necessity towards united platform for ICT development and unique standards in region.
